Do you guys currently have a waitlist?

We do not currently have a wait list but it is getting close.

Could you provide an overview of the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility?

We have PCA’s, HHA’s, LPN’s, a director of nursing that is an RN, an assistant director of nursing that is an LPN. We have chefs on staff that make meals from scratch and we consult with a registered dietician. The training that is provided is 40 hours of training upon hire to include resident rights, abuse, dementia, providing care, and job specific duties. We also require yearly trainings. We also have training for PCA’s to be medication techs as well.

Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?

Training is the number one measure we have for resident safety. We also have secured doors to the outside. We have pull cords in the living spaces. We have a team here that is incredible in working with each other in the best interest of the resident. We are also fully sprinkled for potential fires, we have 2 hour rated fire doors and walls, we complete monthly fire and elopement drills to keep staff fresh with policies and procedures. We have a disaster plan in place in the event of a major event that provides guidance and resources to navigate the event while keeping residents safe. We are also staffed 24 hours 7 days a week and we complete hourly safety checks on residents 24/7.

Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?

KSV is dementia care so we are well versed and trained in how to assist someone in adjusting to the transition. We also include the family and any other interested parties in this transition and we come up with a plan, together, to do what is best for the resident. Each person’s transition plan is unique and based on the whole team. We do allow companion care companies to come in as well if the family chooses to purchase.

Do you offer transportation services for residents?

Yes, we offer transportation to and from doctor appointments Tuesday’s through Thursdays. This is so long as the visit is within 15 miles of our community. We also offer aide services to ride along with the resident. We provide transportation for all activity outings as well. These take place on Monday’s and Fridays.

Could you tell me a little about your dining experience?

Residents have access to 2 dining rooms and they all eat together. They are not assigned seating; rather, they can choose who to have this experience with. We have aides and dining servers available at all times during meal. Residents are served their meals. Meals are based off from a daily menu which is posted for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (each day.) We do have a short menu for residents to order from if they don’t like the specials of the day. Our meals are prepared by chef’s and the majority of the meals are fresh made. We also monitor meal consumption so that we can address any issues early on with the family and physician. We are able to do modified diets such as ground, chopped, and puree. We can also do thickened liquids. We follow a diabetic friendly diet and have the ability to do no added salt and/or no concentrated sweets. We are also able to accommodate most common food allergies.

What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?

Residents are encouraged to let their aides and nursing staff know when there is a concern. As the Executive Director, I often times walk the building talking with residents. If they have concerns, we listen. We try to determine the best way to address. We do the same for families. I have a direct line for families to call with any concerns that they feel the nursing management team has not properly addressed. I also do a quarterly zoom meeting with families to talk about updates at Keepsake Village and to answer any questions at that time.

What is the cost of living in your community?

We have 3 room options. A private room is $8,619/month. A semi-private room is $6,891/month and a Private Deluxe is $8,911/month. These costs are ALL INCLUSIVE. There are no additional care charges. This includes their living expenses (rent, heat, electric, meals) and all the services from the aides (showering, dressing, personal care), daily housekeeping, maintenance needs, and activities. We do offer an enhanced service if someone needs a little bit of skilled nursing.

What is your policy on communication with resident's families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?

We encourage a family partnership so communication should go both ways. We will notify families if we believe there is an issue or concern and we expect that families will do so as well. We highly encourage family visits. Nursing staff will also meet with families for their care plan reviews. We send out a monthly newsletter with updates from activities. I hold a quarterly zoom meeting for all families. I will also email families if there is an update that is urgent.

Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?

We do not offer respite stays. We do offer Adult Social Day for people who do not live here. That cost is $125/day and includes breakfast and lunch.

Are you all a pet-friendly community?

We allow pets to visit but we do not allow pets to stay.

Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?

Yes

Are residents able to age in place?

Yes, so long as they are able to safely be cared for under assisted living regulations. We have an enhanced licensure that allows people the opportunity to age in place for as long as possible. This is an added monthly charge of $2,060/month.

Keepsake Village:

I’m attaching some information on our Mosher-Gardens Method, which is our signature approach to Memory Care. Through the Mosher-Gardens Method, we’re able to interact with each resident, in meaningful ways, throughout the day, thus enhancing their quality of life. I’m also attaching some documents that outline the following important points:

Rates

I’m attaching our rates for you to look over.

  • Our rates are all-inclusive, meaning the prices you see here include an apartment (either private, or shared with a roommate,) all utilities with the exception of phone and cable (which are optional,) three meals a day with snacks, housekeeping, help with bathing and dressing, help with taking medications, wellness checks throughout the day and night, etc.
  • All apartments come furnished with a bed. You’re welcome to bring your own if you’d prefer, but please know a twin-size bed is included in the rental cost.
  • Our community is dedicated to those with Alzheimer’s and dementia, and our staff are professionally trained to work with seniors with cognitive impairments.
  • You can see pictures of our community and learn more about what we offer at www.keepsakevillage.com.

Long-Term Care Insurance

  • Does your loved one have long-term care insurance? Reason being most policies cover a significant portion of the cost and reimburse the resident’s family directly. (So, should he/she move in, we would send you a monthly invoice which you’d pay and submit to their insurance company. Then, the insurance company would send you the reimbursement check at a determined amount, based on their policy.)
  • If he/she has long-term care insurance, I highly recommend reaching out to get an estimate on how much they’d reimburse.
