Overview of Types of Professionals on Our Staff and Their Training

We have a dedicated team to ensure the well-being of our residents. Below is a summary of our staff and their training:

  • Three Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) on the floor for Assisted Living and Memory Care units during morning and evening hours.
  • One PCA in each unit at night.
  • One Medication Tech, both day and night shifts, to pass medications.
  • One Resident Care Coordinator available Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM.
  • AL Director (myself) with 12 years of nursing experience, available Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM. Both the Resident Care Coordinator and I are on-call at all times.

Every employee undergoes a background check and receives various in-service trainings, which include areas such as abuse/neglect, job duties, and safe transfer techniques as advised by the therapy department. Medication Techs must pass a test to assist residents with medications. I monitor employee compliance through regular performance reviews. Furthermore, all staff attend monthly online training sessions on various pertinent subjects.

Safety and Well-Being Measures

We have several measures in place to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents:

  • Staff conducts rounds at a minimum of every 2 hours.
  • Call bells are ensured to be within reach for residents in their bedrooms.
  • Visible emergency evacuation routes and fire extinguishers in hallways throughout the facility.
  • Staff report any changes in baseline condition to me, the Resident Care Coordinator, or the Medication Tech as soon as possible.

Resources and Support Services for Transition

To aid residents' transition into the community, initial individual resident assessments are completed by the AL Director and Coordinator to ensure that the resident is moved into the appropriate unit.

Transportation Services

We offer transportation services for residents within a 10-mile radius of the facility, as stated in our AL flyer.

Dining Experience

All meals are served in the dining room with dietary slips to ensure residents receive appropriate diets, including consistency and dietary restrictions. Meal times are as follows:

  • Breakfast: 8 AM
  • Lunch: Noon
  • Dinner: 5 PM

Every resident receives a menu to make meal selections for the following day. Each entrée is served with an appetizer and dessert each day.

Resident Complaints or Issues

Grievance forms are available to residents and family members. Upon receiving a complaint, an investigation will be initiated, and a corrective plan of action will be set in place depending on the situation.

Communication with Resident's Families

Staff, including Medication Techs, RCC, and myself, are encouraged to update residents' families should there be any changes in condition or new orders from the Nurse Practitioner or MD rounding in the facility. Updates can be communicated via phone calls or in-person meetings.

Short-Term or Respite Stays

Yes, we do offer respite care. Additional information can be attached upon request.

Pet-Friendly Community

Yes, pets are allowed to visit our community.

Vaccinations

Residents are not able to get Covid-19 or flu vaccinations at the facility.

Aging in Place

Yes, this is a forever home for our residents. Please note that there is a waitlist for the Memory Care unit.
